How a Strikethrough Text Generator Works
Most strikethrough comes from a formatting button: you select a word, tap a toolbar icon and the app draws a line through it. That only works where the app offers the button. A bio, a username line or a plain note has no toolbar, so the formatting has nowhere to live.
A strikethrough text generator solves this by changing the text itself. After each letter it adds a combining character, a tiny mark that Unicode defines to sit on top of the character before it. The long stroke gives a line through the middle, the short stroke gives a dash, the slash gives a diagonal and the tilde gives a wave. Because the marks travel with the letters, the effect survives a normal copy and paste.

Before You Paste a Crossed-Out Line
Line effects depend on the font that draws them, so test a short sample in the place where you will use it. Some apps stack the marks neatly, while others leave the letters slightly offset. Do not cross out anything people must read, such as a date, a price they have to pay or a safety note. Screen readers may announce every mark or skip the text, which makes a struck-through sentence confusing to hear.

How does strikethrough text work without formatting?
Each letter is followed by a combining character, a special mark that is drawn on top of the letter before it. The letters stay normal, and the app draws the line across them.
Why does the line look broken or uneven?
The line is drawn one letter at a time, so the font decides how the pieces join. Some fonts leave tiny gaps or place the line a little high or low. Try Short Strike or a different app if it looks messy.
Can I cross out only one word in a sentence?
Yes. Generate that word on its own, copy it and paste it into the sentence. The rest of the sentence stays plain, so the crossed-out word stands out.
Why do the spaces between words have no line?
The tool adds the mark to letters, numbers and symbols but skips spaces. Words are crossed out one by one, and the gaps between them stay clear.
Will a search find text that has a line through it?
Often it will not. A combining mark sits between the letters, so a search for the plain word may not match. Keep important keywords in plain text and use the strike only for effect.
Should I use the built-in strikethrough instead?
If the app has its own, use it. WhatsApp, for example, crosses out a word when you put tildes around it. Built-in formatting is cleaner than extra characters, and this generator is for fields that have no formatting at all.
